Destiny 2 targeted in lawsuit from writer who says Bungie copied his work

Bungie is being sued for copyright infringement by a writer who claims the studio copied his “original work about a unique and captivating fantasy world” for Destiny 2’s Red War campaign.

The lawsuit (as spotted by TheGamePost) was filed with the US District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana by author Kelsey Martineau. He accuses Bungie of “deliberately copying and appropriating [his] copyrighted content”, arguing aspects of Destiny 2’s Red War storyline – its antagonistic Red Legion army, in particular – were taken “directly” from an original work published via Wordpress years before the (now vaulted) Destiny 2 campaign’s 2017 release.

According to the lawsuit, Martineau, using the pen name Caspar Cole, authored his “original work about a unique a…

Wikipedia has had to lock down the Silent Hill 2 Remake page after repeated vandalism from editors who refuse to accept that the remake of Konami’s seminal horror game released to critical acclaim earlier this week.
Outright lies around the games reception and metacritic score – including one edit that said the game had “received the worst reviews imaginable” – means the page has now been put into a semi-protected state to stop unregistered users from making wild, unsubstantiated claims, including one that said Eurogamer had awarded it 0/5 stars when, in fact, it got top marks.

What Halo on Unreal Engine 5 means for PS5

Today’s announcements by the newly-rebranded Halo Studios – formerly 343 Industries – that multiple new Halo games are in development has excited fans of Microsoft’s flagship Xbox franchise. But is there cause for celebration for PlayStation 5 owners too?

Halo Studios has said it will now develop all future Halo projects using Unreal Engine 5, the Epic Games-made toolkit for game development that’s used widely across the industry. It’s set to power the next Witcher and Tomb Raider installments, and can be seen in action this week within the highly-acclaimed Silent Hill 2 remake.

Discussing the move to Unreal Engine, Halo Studios said the change means faster, smoother development and iteration is now possible, while it will also allow for an easier onboarding…

Acclaimed plague horror Pathologic is getting a third instalment, this time with time travel

Pathologic, the acclaimed plague-themed horror series from developer Ice-Pick Lodge, is returning for a third instalment, this time slinging time travel into its gruelling, emotionally draining mix of intentionally dispiriting survival and haunting theatrics.

The newly announced Pathologic 3 is something of an oddity in that it’s technically, sort of, the second chunk of Pathologic 2 – itself a half sequel and half (much-improved) remake of Ice-Pick Lodge’s cult-classic 2005 original. Pathological 1 – which, as with all entries in the series, charts the sudden decline of a strange, small town on the edge of the Russian Steppe as it slowly succumbs to a mysterious plague – memorably had three playable characters and three distinct routes through its 12 days of i…
