UPDATE 11/09/24: Epic Games has confirmed cross-play across all PC storefronts is a requirement of its games store for all multiplayer games.
A statement shared with Eurogamer from an Epic Games spokesperson reads: “Cross-play across all PC storefronts is a requirement of the Epic Games Store for all multiplayer games, ensuring that players and friends can play together wherever they purchase their games. Developers are free to choose any solutions that meet this requirement, including Epic Online Services, which may require a secondary installation to enable the Social Overlay (friends lists, cross-platform invites, etc) on PC.”

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater producer Noriaki Okamura has stated the development team would “rather come down on the side of ‘too faithful'” than make big changes compared to the original game.
During previews for the Snake Eater remake, a frequent criticism was the game felt outdated compared to modern stealth games and too few changes were made compared to the PS2 original.
However, in a new “Production Hotline” video, Okamura explained the thought process behind maintaining the original vision of the game.

UK high street chain GAME has acknowledged customers awaiting pre-orders are currently facing “issues” accessing their accounts online, as they wait for delayed deliveries to arrive.

GAME customers with items they had pre-ordered and already paid for told Eurogamer they had received no advance notice of any issue, and have been unable to check the status of their orders online. The issues follow Eurogamer’s reporting that GAME was ending in-store pre-orders.

“The GAME website is currently undergoing upgrades, and as a result, we are aware that some customers are experiencing issues accessing their GAME accounts and order details,” a spokesperson for parent company Frasers Group said.

Netflix has released a new trailer for the second season of Arcane. Season two of the acclaimed animated League of Legends spin-off is set to release later this year, and will conclude the series (something that is deeply disappointing).
That said, if this trailer is anything to go by, it sure seems like the show is going out with a bang. With explosions, dialogue such as “I want to tear that laugh from her throat forever” and a backing track that is sure to leave you feeling pumped up for the afternoon ahead, this trailer has nicely whetted appetites for the upcoming season. It focuses on Jinx, Vi and Caitlyn’s rivalry, although there is a distinct lack of Jayce and Viktor. We also get a proper glimpse of Singed and a bit more of Warwick.

Funcom – the developer behind Dune: Awakening – has admitted that getting the game ready for Microsoft’s lower-powered Xbox Series S will be a “challenge”.
Speaking with Connor Makar from VG247, Dune: Awakening’s chief product officer Scott Junior said “there’s a lot of optimisations we need to do before we release on the Xbox”. He noted this is “one of the reasons we’re coming out on PC first”.
As revealed last month, Dune: Awakening will debut on PC early next year, however console versions for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S are yet to secure a release date. But, if you are keen to give Dune: Awakening a go on your Series S, don’t worry just yet. Nintendo has updated its guidelines for content creators, strengthening its right “to object” to any content it deems “inappropriate”.
Nintendo’s “game content guidelines for online video and image sharing platforms” were updated earlier today (2nd September). Whilst the company says it is “humbled every day” by the loyalty and passion of its fanbase, it nonetheless reminds all content creators that they need to adhere to “basic rules”, and “reserves the right to object to any content that [it] believe[s] is unlawful, infringing, inappropriate, or not in line with these guidelines”.
“We reserve the right to no longer allow the use of Nintendo game content in case of such violations,” the terms guidelines say.

Verdansk is the battle royale’s original map that’s no longer playable. But, following in the footsteps of Fortnite’s own OG map return, it will be back in spring 2025.

The return of the map has been rumoured for some time, but Activision officially confirmed the news in last night’s Call of Duty: Next livestream.

Development on the upcoming Tomb Raider game from Crystal Dynamics and Amazon is “going well”.
Amazon announced it would be working alongside Crystal Dynamics on the next Tomb Raider game back in 2022, when it said it would provide its “full support” to the team as it works on “the biggest, most expansive” series entry to date.
Since then, details have been pretty sparse for the upcoming release. In fact, all we really know right now is that it is being made in Unreal Engine 5 and will have “mind-bending puzzles to solve” and a “wide variety of enemies to face and overcome”.
